Expanded Metal is a relatively new product in our country, but with a very wide range of uses as a result of multiple qualities is presents. Areas of major use of expanded metal are:
- Civil and industrial construction and architecture;
- design and public enclosures, social and sports
- infrastructure, roads and bridges
- filters and various industrial applications
Increasingly use of the expanded metal in these areas is recommended by the following important features they present:
- versatility – new applications are found every day in more diverse areas
- sustainability by excellent power-to-resistance ratio
- rigidity due to its structure
- homogeneity, as it is manufactured in one piece, seamless
- easy cutting to different lengths and/or width
- no material or economic loss, compared to perforated metal
- exceptional transparency allows light filtering, noise, gas and water
- easy handling
- electrical conductivity, magnetic and thermal high, because of its continuity
Applications
Expanded metal is obtained by lengthening smooth sheet with the execution of cleft (mesh) of the same shapes and sizes. These clefts (mesh), can be achieved in a variety of shapes and sizes according to fields of use.
Basic materials used in manufacturing expanded metal are:
Tin alloys of nickel, chromium, titanium
Black or pickled steel sheet (DC 01, DC 03, DD11, S235 JRG)
Sheet or galvanized steel AISI 304L DX51D
A1050 aluminum-tin, brass or copper
Corrosion protection methods applied zinc plates after expansion they consist of thermal or electrostatic painting applications that require it. Expanded in size diamond can produce 6×4 mm, 10×5 mm, 16×7 mm, 28×13 mm, 43×20 mm, 50×20 mm, 62×30 mm, 75×35 mm and 115×55 mm. Other forms can be expanded hexagonal mesh 85×35 mm, 5 mm round mesh, square mesh or combined (hex + square + plate smooth expanded metal).
